چکیده

Background and Purpose—We report on the use of line scan diffusion magnetic resonance imaging in the evaluation of spinal cord infarctions. Methods—Data on 19 patients with clinical findings consistent with spinal cord infarctions and abnormal findings on line scan diffusion imaging were reviewed. The Apparent Diffusion Coefficient (ADC) measurements for the normal spinal cord and for the areas of abnormality were calculated from trace ADC maps. Results—Restricted diffusion was found in all 19 patients. Absolute ADC values in the ischemic area ranged between 395.4 and 575.8 10 6 mm/s, with ADC ratios ranging between 39.4% and 57.4%. Conclusions—Line scan diffusion imaging is technically feasible and appears to be a reliable method to diagnose spinal cord infarction in the acute setting. (Stroke. 2012;43:532-535.)

Line scan diffusion tensor MRI of the cervical spinal cord in preterm infants.

Line scan diffusion tensor magenetic resonance imaging (DT-MRI) of the cervical spinal cord was demonstrated in vivo for unsedated preterm (gestational age 24-30 weeks at birth), very low birthweight (birthweight 620-1300 g) infants at postmenstrual ages from 29-40 weeks. Scalar invariant measures of diffusion [apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) and relative anisotropy (RA)] determined from a...

Magnetic resonance diffusion imaging of the human cervical spinal cord in vivo.

Knowledge of water diffusion characteristics within the human spinal cord may provide important information about the structural nature of spinal cord pathology. However, the sensitivity of diffusion imaging methods to motion and the requirement for high in-plane resolution has hitherto restricted study of spinal cord diffusion to excised samples. The first diffusion images of the human cervica...

Lateral and Dorsal Column Hyperintensity on Magnetic Resonance Imaging in a Patient with Myelopathy Associated with Intrathecal Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy-related myelopathy mimicking subacute combined degeneration (SCD) has rarely been reported. We encountered a 35-year-old female with sensory ataxia after intrathecal chemotherapy. Spinal magnetic resonance imaging showed localized abnormal signal areas in the lateral and dorsal white matter, mimicking SCD. Diffusion imaging showed restricted water diffusion and increased microstruc...

MR line-scan diffusion imaging of the spinal cord in children.

Diffusion imaging has been widely used in the brain, but its application in the spinal cord has been limited. Using line-scan diffusion imaging (LSDI), a technique that is less sensitive to magnetic susceptibility and motion artifacts than are other diffusion techniques, we have successfully imaged the spinal cord in children. The apparent diffusion coefficient and relative diffusion anisotropy...
